A powerful explosion ripped through a car parked near Delhi’s historic Red Fort on Monday evening (November 10, 2025), killing at least eight people and injuring several others. The intense blast set multiple vehicles ablaze, shattered windows in nearby buildings, and sent shockwaves across the busy area.
🔥 Chaos Near Red Fort
According to Delhi Police, eight people have been confirmed dead so far, while several others are feared injured. Senior police officials, along with fire and forensic teams, rushed to the spot as soon as reports of the explosion came in.
The Delhi Fire Services said that seven fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze. The area around the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk has been sealed off, and a high alert has been sounded across the city.
“The blast occurred in a car parked near Red Fort Metro Station Gate No. 1. The intensity was quite high, and injuries are feared,” said a senior Delhi Fire Service official.
🚗 Eyewitness Accounts
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and confusion.
“There was a Swift car in front of my auto. Suddenly, it just exploded,” said one witness.
Another person, who was at a nearby gurdwara, recalled,
“We heard a massive sound. We didn’t know what it was—it shook the whole area.”
Local traders said the explosion was strong enough to shake entire buildings.
“My shop is around 800 meters away, and even then, our windows rattled,” said Sanjay Bhargaw, president of the Chandni Chowk Traders Association.
🚒 Flames, Smoke, and Destruction
Visuals aired on local news channels showed flames and thick smoke rising from the spot. Several vehicles, including six cars and three autorickshaws, caught fire before firefighters managed to douse the flames.
The explosion also damaged nearby vehicles and shops, while police worked to disperse large crowds that had gathered at the scene.
⚠️ Investigation Underway
Police are yet to confirm the cause of the explosion. “The incident took place near Red Fort, and the matter is under investigation,” said Sanjay Tyagi, spokesperson for Delhi Police.
As of now, 11 people are reported injured, according to local media reports.
