Two people were killed and eight others were wounded Wednesday night in a shooting outside a funeral at a Salt Lake City church, police said.

The shooting occurred at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 660 North Redwood Road. Authorities said three of the injured victims are in critical condition.

No suspects were in custody as of late Wednesday, and police have not released details about a possible motive.

Redwood Road remains closed near the church as officers continue their investigation. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area while the scene is secured.

The incident has shocked the local community, as it unfolded during a funeral service, drawing a heavy law enforcement response and emergency medical personnel to the scene.

Police said more information would be released as the investigation continues.
