Santa Claus is bringing more than gifts this year — he’s delivering three brand-new episodes of Stranger Things on Christmas Day.
Fans of the Netflix sci-fi phenomenon have been counting down the days for the final chapter of the show, and the wait is almost over. Stranger Things Season 5, the show’s fifth and final season, continues on Dec. 25, right on Christmas Day.
After a long and painful three-year break, the series made its return on Nov. 26, when the first four episodes of Season 5 dropped. And those episodes didn’t hold back.
Netflix labeled that first batch Vol. 1, and it sent the Hawkins crew straight back into chaos. The gang returned to the Upside Down — and things went downhill fast.
Now, the hit series created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer is ready to release Vol. 2, which includes three more episodes.
Here’s a quick refresher on what went down in Episodes 1 through 4. During a massive battle against a swarm of Demogorgons, Will (Noah Schnapp) discovers he can tap into his unsettling connection with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and even use some of his power. That ability becomes crucial, as Vecna is trying to abduct a dozen kids from Hawkins to complete his plan to take over the world.
Meanwhile, Max (Sadie Sink) remains trapped inside Vecna’s mind while in a coma. She survives by hiding in a cave Vecna can’t enter. When Holly (Nell Fisher), Mike and Nancy’s younger sister, falls under Vecna’s spell, Max manages to rescue her and bring her to safety.
Back in the real world, Hawkins is under a strict military lockdown led by a terrifying new scientist, Dr. Kay (Linda Hamilton), who is obsessed with tracking down Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).
There’s more drama all around. Hopper (David Harbour) escapes a brutal Russian labor camp. Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) is still mourning the loss of his best friend Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan are stuck in an awkward love triangle, Robin (Maya Hawke) has a girlfriend, and moms Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) are proving they can handle just about anything.
