ATLANTA — Rapper Rod Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was arrested Friday in Atlanta on multiple drug and weapons charges, according to police.

Authorities say the 26-year-old Florida native faces several felony counts, including possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance, and reckless driving.

Green was booked into the Fulton County Jail, jail records show. The Atlanta Police Department has not yet released details on what led to his arrest.

⚖️ What the Charges Mean

Under Georgia law, a Schedule II drug category includes powerful substances such as morphine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, and methamphetamine. These drugs are considered to have a high potential for abuse.

A Schedule V substance typically contains smaller amounts of narcotics — such as codeine or opium — often found in cough syrups or other medications that combine narcotics with non-addictive ingredients for medical use.

🎤 Who Is Rod Wave?

Rod Wave is best known for blending rap and soulful R&B, a style often described as “soul-trap.” Since debuting in the late 2010s, he’s become one of hip-hop’s biggest streaming artists.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), he has 11 platinum singles and four of his six studio albums have reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart — including his most recent record, “Last Lap” (2024).

Friday’s arrest isn’t Rod Wave’s first run-in with law enforcement. Earlier this year, he was arrested in Fulton County on multiple charges, including aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a felony, and obstruction of law officers.

At the time, his attorneys said he had been the victim of a robbery and maintained his innocence.

In 2022, he was also arrested in Florida on a domestic battery charge, which was later dismissed.
