The first teaser for the highly anticipated Street Fighter movie has officially dropped, giving fans an electrifying look at Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and several iconic fighters unleashing their signature moves. The preview debuted during the 2025 Game Awards in Los Angeles, where cast members and filmmakers surprised the audience with an exclusive early reveal.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai and written by Dalan Musson, the film is set for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026. Legendary game developer Capcom is coproducing the project, while Paramount is handling distribution.
This upcoming adaptation follows previous big-screen attempts — the 1994 cult classic starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia, and 2009’s Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. But with modern effects, a bigger budget, and a star-packed cast, expectations are at an all-time high.
The Plot: A Return to 1993
The official logline sets the story in 1993, where estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are pulled back into the world of combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament.
The tournament becomes more than just a fight for glory — a dark conspiracy threatens to pit Ryu and Ken against each other, forcing them to confront old rivalries, hidden threats, and personal demons. As the story warns: If they fail, it’s GAME OVER.
50 Cent and Jason Momoa Take on Surprising Roles
One of the biggest shocks from the teaser was the reveal of new character portrayals:
- 50 Cent as Balrog
- Jason Momoa as Blanka
Their intense character designs and brief action shots have already set the internet buzzing.
Is There an Official Trailer?
Not yet. The teaser shown at the Game Awards is the only footage currently available. Fans can expect a full official trailer sometime in 2025.
